JON HAGLUND

Jon Haglund is a Partner at CANAD Construction in Grande Prairie, Alberta. The CANAD team brings more than 30 years of experience overseeing commercial and industrial construction and land development, and has been involved in approximately 80 projects across northern Alberta. Many of those projects are repeat business from developers, investors and companies who have worked with CANAD before.

Recent work includes an 80,000 sq ft auto dealership on a 10-acre site in Grande Prairie, completed at a final cost of $18 million, and a series of building developments across multiple locations for one group, with a combined value of more than $50 million. CANAD currently has $10 million in projects under construction and is working to secure a further $23 million.

CANAD’s approach to project management is different from most: it works directly for the owner. Owners see every vendor invoice and pay vendors directly, and CANAD does not mark up those invoices. Instead, CANAD charges a project management fee to run the site day to day — managing trades, running the safety and compliance program, approving vendor invoices, and working with municipalities, engineers and architects on permits and inspections. Owners receive timely reporting on all project costs and a complete record of vendor invoices.
